Before You Begin

You need an active BigCommerce store with admin access. No coding or theme editing is required — AccessPro Accessibility installs as a script-injection app and works with any BigCommerce theme out of the box.

1

Find AccessPro in the BigCommerce App Marketplace

Open your BigCommerce control panel and navigate to Apps → Marketplace. In the search bar type “AccessPro” and select the AccessPro Accessibility listing.

  • Log in to your BigCommerce store admin (yourstore.mybigcommerce.com/manage)
  • In the left sidebar click Apps, then Marketplace
  • Search for "AccessPro Accessibility" and open the app listing
  • Review the app description, screenshots, and pricing tiers

2

Install the App

Click the Get This App button on the marketplace listing. BigCommerce will ask you to confirm the permissions the app requires.

Permissions Requested

  • Read store information — to identify your store and apply correct settings
  • Manage store scripts — to inject the accessibility widget into your storefront
  • Read products & categories — to support menu-level accessibility targeting

Tip

After clicking Confirm, you will be redirected to the AccessPro dashboard inside your BigCommerce control panel.

3

Configure Widget Settings

Go to the Widget Settings tab in the AccessPro dashboard to customise how the accessibility widget looks and behaves on your storefront.

Key Options

  • Widget position — bottom-left, bottom-right, top-left, top-right
  • Trigger button colour and icon style to match your brand
  • Default language for the accessibility panel
  • Enable or disable individual accessibility features (contrast, font size, dyslexia font, etc.)
  • Custom CSS overrides for advanced branding (Pro plan)

Live Preview

Changes in Widget Settings are saved instantly. Open your storefront in a new tab to see updates in real time — no publish step required.

4

Configure Menu Settings

The Menu Settings tab controls which accessibility tools appear inside the widget panel and the order they are presented to your customers.

Configurable Menu Items

  • Text size adjustment (increase / decrease)
  • High contrast mode and colour inversion
  • Dyslexia-friendly font toggle
  • Pause animations and reduced motion mode
  • Highlight links and keyboard focus indicators
  • Reading guide and screen reader optimisations
  • Text spacing and line height adjustments

Drag menu items to reorder them. Toggle individual items on or off to match your store's accessibility priorities. Disabled items are hidden from customers.

5

Verify the Widget on Your Storefront

Before checking your storefront, make sure the accessibility script is enabled from the dashboard. Then visit your live store to confirm the widget is visible and functioning correctly.

Enable the Accessibility Script First

In the AccessPro dashboard, Click the enable option on Accessibility Script Card. Once enabled, open your storefront in a new browser tab to see the widget live.

Verification Checklist

  • The accessibility icon appears in the position you selected
  • Clicking the icon opens the accessibility panel without errors
  • Each enabled menu item toggles correctly
  • The widget is visible on mobile and tablet viewports
  • No console errors appear in the browser developer tools

Testing in Incognito

Open your storefront in an incognito / private window to see exactly what a new visitor sees, without any cached preferences from previous sessions.

6

Review Analytics

Once customers start interacting with the widget, head to the Analytics tab to monitor usage. This helps you understand which accessibility features your customers use most.

What You Can Track

  • Total widget opens and unique users per day / week / month
  • Most-used accessibility features
  • Feature usage breakdown by device type
  • Trend charts over your selected date range

Analytics data begins populating as soon as the widget receives its first interaction. Allow up to 24 hours for data to appear in the dashboard after installation.

Troubleshooting

Widget not appearing on the storefront

  • Confirm the app is listed as Active in Apps → My Apps inside BigCommerce
  • Hard-refresh the storefront (Ctrl + Shift + R / Cmd + Shift + R) to bypass cache
  • Check that your theme supports BigCommerce Script Manager — some older themes require manual snippet insertion
  • Ensure no browser extensions (ad-blockers) are suppressing the script

Dashboard shows a blank screen after install

  • Clear your browser cache and cookies, then reload the dashboard
  • Try opening the app from a different browser or incognito window
  • Check your BigCommerce session has not timed out — log out and back in

Widget settings not saving

  • Ensure you have a stable internet connection and are not on a VPN that blocks API calls
  • Confirm your subscription plan is active — free trial expiry can restrict saves
  • Contact support if the issue persists; include your store domain and the browser console log

Uninstalling the App

To remove AccessPro Accessibility from your store, go to Apps → My Apps in the BigCommerce control panel, find AccessPro, and click Uninstall.

  • The accessibility widget is immediately removed from your storefront
  • All store configuration data is permanently deleted from our servers upon uninstall
  • Billing history is retained internally for our accounting records only
  • Your BigCommerce store and theme files are left untouched
